What are the recent changes to landlord-tenant laws in Colorado? Am I compliant with new landlord/tenant law in Colorado? Do my leases need to be updated?

Since 2020 (pandemic era), we have seen increased volatility in landlord/tenant law across the country. It is no different in Colorado. The Colorado General Assembly has been passing new laws in the landlord/tenant sphere multiple times a year for the past 3-4 years. I have been frustrated with a lack of resources summarizing and keeping track of new laws impacting landlords and tenants in Colorado. Whether you are a tenant or a landlord, it is important to stay up-to-date on new and changing landlord/tenant laws in Colorado.

Tenants, you need to understand your rights, duties, and responsibilities as a tenant. If you are a property owner, landlord, or property manager who wants to stay up to date on your legal duties to tenants and make the changes needed to comply with new laws, read on.

From the new for-cause eviction law, to the warranty of habitability overhaul, to new laws regarding pets, this article tracks most of the statutory changes since 2020 for those of you who are still working off of old lease documents, or worse, lease documents you downloaded off the internet. Feel free to contact Volpe Law LLC at 720-441-3328 or use our consultation request form if you would like to request further information.

Because the changes are too numerous to put in one blog, we will break it down into various new pages, linked here.
